South Norfolk in EuropeSouth Norfolk became part of the Eastern Constituency for the Euro elections in 1999. In 2009 this returned seven Members to the European Parliament. At that election Liberal Democrats achieved 16.5% of the votes in South Norfolk and helped to elect Andrew Duff as a Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament (MEP). About Andrew DuffAndrew Duff MEP is the Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for Eastern England. Eastern England comprises the shire counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Andrew along with the other 12 Liberal Democrat MEPs is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) grouping in the European Parliament. With 100 MEPs from 22 countries the ALDE group is the third largest political grouping within the Parliament.
Andrew has been re-elected as Leader of the Liberal Democrat European Parliamentary Party 2007-2009 and he is the Spokesman on Constitutional Affairs for ALDE.
