Vice Chairman South-West Area Planning Committee, Chairman of the
Environmental Policy Development Panel, Chairman Joint Consultative
Committee.
Previously Chairman of Council, Civic Year 2003–04.
First elected to South Norfolk Council (representing Harleston
Ward) May 1999. This maintained the unbroken representation of Harleston
by the Liberals, Sidney Burton having been the first SNDC Liberal
Councillor when the authority was created in 1974, with Sidney Taylor
following him. Only agreed to stand if did not have to change name
to Sidney.
Other:
Chairman Harleston Development Partnership. Trustee for King George
Vth Hall Harleston; Church of England Honorary Curate for Redenhall
with Harleston and Wortwell and Needham Parishes; Member of the
Diocesan Board of Education; Chairman Harleston Town Football Club.
Past offices have included: Headteacher Harleston Dove First School
and Nursery; Chairman Teachers' Panel Joint Consultative Committee;
Chairman Norfolk Association Heads of Larger Primary Schools; Norfolk
County Division President National Union of Teachers; President
Waveney Valley NUT and also South Norfolk NUT. Secretary for South
